Crime drama - Editing

As we have gotten all the film so far uploaded onto the Mac's and have time before we film our last bit of the crime drama, the flash backs, we have began editing. firstly, we need credits and title sequences to add to the opening of the drama. For this I have been watching the opening of many different crime dramas and analysing them to decide on which to add into our own drama.

The Wire opening scene showed how the names of the cast all overlapped the images n the screen. This will be similar to our crime drama, Innocence.

Shot 3

Saturday 9th of January, with the local parks covered with snow, we found the perfect setting for the main body of our crime drama, the chase. As a group we successfully filmed approximately one minute of footage which is now ready for uploading and editing. We covered many different angles and got our actors ready. The crime drama is finally looking like a crime drama.

Change of Plan

After a long discussion, as a group we have decided to change the roles of the members in the group. This has been done to make it more convenient for the different members in the group to preform tasks within the group more suited to every ones strengths. As at the start of the year, everyone in the group was new to media and unaware of how they can do best with their roles, we may have mistaken which roles would be best for us. so now, we have all decided to change to;
Me = Camera
Azma = Director
Mohammad = Sound
Ridwaan = Editing

Linked Production

The linked production is an individual product, so I have decided to create a DVD cover for our crime drama, 'Innocence'. Using photo shop I will create a cover based on my initial research on other crime drama DVD covers.
I have set various deadlines for myself including learning to use photo shop and taking photos of the the actors form the drama. these deadline are 15Th of January. This will provide enough time to arrange and complete the cover.

Shot 1

Success! On Monday the 14th of December, finally, we taped our first bit of film for our crime drama, the murder scene. We filmed inside the college, in a secluded room with tables, so it was very easy to get the different angles we needed e.g. birds eye view. We also got our actors together and completed the murder scene, ready to be edited. Although we never managed to film the bedroom scene which was meant to be shot with Shot 1, but will just have to be moved into shot 2 or 3.

Filming - Planning

As the cameras could only be taken twice, overnight and once on a weekend, as a group we have collectively divided the different shots into 3 different dates in which we can film each scene.
During the week :- Shot 1 :- The bedroom scene
:- The murder scene
- Shot 2 :- The Police officers flash back, part 1 in a office, part 2 in a house
On the weekend :- Shot 3 :- The chase scene
:- The Criminals flash back scenes
The first two shots are the easiest tasks, which is why they will be done on a weekday, because of the limited amount of time we have to film on these days. the main body of the filming will be done on the weekend, predicted after the Christmas holidays to provide sufficient time to film the longest scenes.

Lighting

To make the different scenes look as realistic as possible, lighting is a very important element through out the opening sequence of the crime drama. For this reason, the following different lighting styles have been carefully selected to obtain maximum marks in the crime drama.
For the murder scene, it will be a dark and gloomy setting.
For the happy couple scene there will be really bright lighting, as the scene will be shot during the day, to emphasis the happiness the couple is sharing.
For the flash backs during the opening sequence, there will be yellow/brown scenes and black/white scenes.
During the chase, it will be shoot during dusk, so a semi-light setting, starting quite light and ending in a dark scene to emphasis the amount of hope the characters are feeling during the chase.
